Task Five: Storyboard

We decided to present our storyboard using Prezi. The storyboard shows how our trailer will give the audience a general understanding of the plot without revealing too much detail. It will also give the audience a brief introduction to a new member of the team, Eclipse.

Task Four: What limitations are there on your production?

 7. What limitations are there on your production?

When it comes to actually producing our film, we will need to use firearms and improvised weapons. However, we cannot use these in a public place as we may cause panic to the public, therefore, we will have to film on either our own private land, or private land with the landowners permission. Other limitations we may have is that, traditionally, in an action film, they incorporate car chases to boost excitement and energy levels, however, none of our actors can drive, so this is something we will have to do without.

Task Four: Would your film be limited to a UK audience or might it have a global appeal?

6. Would your film be limited to a UK audience or might it have a global appeal?

We feel our film could potentially be a global success, perhaps seeking its success in America or all around Europe. The global appeal could come from the British slang used, or maybe the fact that it is set in suburban London. However this could differ. Certain factors that we may choose to use or include in our trailer, such as the urban location or the British actors, may give the film a worldwide appeal, because of the high appeal of the accents, however, it could also act on the flip side and take away the worldwide appeal, because of the language perhaps being difficult to understand by some viewers. For example, while having some success in the UK, Anuvahood went straight to DVD in America. It was felt that an urban story quite specific to the UK that parodied other British 'urban themed' dramas that were released straight to DVD in America was never going to have a big appeal. Seeing as our film has an 'urban theme', we feel we can adapt the same idea towards our film. All of this included, we feel our film could indeed be a global success.

Task Four: What different 'tribes' of youth may be especially interested in your film?

5. What different 'tribes' of youth may be especially interested in your film?

We feel that our trailer would appeal towards the Mainstream, because action films are one of the most popular genres, therefore, it would be a popular choice for those who chose to 'follow the crowd'.

We also feel that our trailer would appeal to the Urban 'tribe', perhaps because of the film's location. The film will be set in London which will give it an urban atmosphere.  However, this is all down to the opinion of each person who watches the film. For example, you could be part of any 'tribe', be it Alternate or Leading edge, and not like a certain genre of film. However, we feel that as a whole, the Mainstream or Urban tribe, seems like the most obvious group that would go and watch a fast paced action movie.

Task Four: What other 'niche' factors could be considered about how you might appeal to an audience?

4. What other 'niche' factors could be considered about how you might appeal to an audience?

Small factors that we may include, such as the location for the film could perhaps mean that the film appeals more to citizens of the UK. Couple this with the British actors that we are going to use, means that there could be 2 outcomes. Either, the film would be successful in America due to the Americans liking the English accent, or, the film would have a concentrated success in England, because of things like the language we use (slang) that most Americans wouldn't understand.

Task Four: Are there any other audience groups that your film may appeal to?

3. Are there any other audience groups that your film may appeal to?
We feel that our film can appeal to members of not just young males, alongside films such as RED and The Expendables, which give entertainment to numerous different age categories. We would prefer in fact, to make a more diverse trailer, in order not to zoom in on one specific age category. There will also be no racial or social bias when it comes to making our trailer, meaning that hopefully, our trailer will appeal to any age, racial or social group. Even though we do not want our film to have any specific target audience, we feel hat, like RED and The Expendables, younger males will enjoy it the most.

Task Four: What is the target audience for the films you looked at when looking at Influences?

2. What is the target audience for the films you looked at when looking at Influences?

Surprisingly, RED received its highest rating from females aged under 18, closely followed by females aged over 45. This was in fact the same story for all the films we looked at for our inspiration. However, even though the highest rating came from this age category, it was this age category that had the fewest votes. It only received 200 votes compared to the 1779 votes from Males aged under 18, which was the second highest rating for most of the films we looked at. This shows us that even though they received higher votes from females, their film was mainly aimed at males below the age of 29 who made up for 108,000 of the votes compared to the 19,000 votes of all females.

Task Four: Which of the four Quadrants would your film appeal to?

1. Which of the four Quadrants would your film appeal to?

We conducted this survey using Survey Monkey and sent it to our classmates to complete. The results of our survey show us that 83.3% of the females, who took the survey, said that either Action or Comedy films appeal to them. How ever only 2 out 12 females picked both genres together. This contrasted to 100% of the males who took the survey, who said that Action-Comedy films appeal to them the most. 93% who picked either Action or Comedy was aged between 15-20 years old. From this we can assume that our target audience fall into the Younger Males (<25) quadrant. However, this does not mean that people from any quadrant cannot enjoy the film.
